FAQ – Everything you need to know about biogas plants
How much does a biogas plant cost?
The cost of a biogas plant varies considerably, depending on its capacity, the biomass used, the infrastructure required and many other factors. A suitable quotation can only be prepared once the project specifications are known.
How much space does a biogas plant require?
The space required depends on the plant capacity, technology and biomass management methods. A small to medium-sized agricultural plant requires between 3,000 and 8,000 m² (0.3–0.8 ha). Larger plants or facilities with extensive storage areas may require up to 1–2 ha.
How long does a biogas plant last?
A well-designed biogas plant can operate for 15–20 years without requiring any special maintenance beyond routine servicing.
Does the plant produce emissions or odours?
A properly designed and operated plant produces very low emissions and limited odours, thanks to covered systems and controlled biomass management.
What is the return on investment?
The payback period can range from 6 to 10 years, depending on available incentives and biomass.
