SEBIGAS srl AND MASERATI srl BIOMETHANE PRODUCTION PLANT IS IN OPERATION: IT WILL INJECT OVER 5.000.000 Sm3 OF BIOMENTHANE IN THE NATIONAL GRID FOR TRANSPORT EVERY YEAR 🗺

Olgiate Olona (VA), 2nd May 2019 – Since the end of April, the biomethane production plant, fed with organic municipal solid waste fraction (OFMSW), designed and constructed by Sebigas srl for Maserati Energia Srl (owned by Maserati srl and Sebigas srl), and located close to Piacenza, Italy, is officially in operation. The plant, located on an area of 35000m2, the plant has been designed to treat 50.000 ton/year of OFMSW and 5000 ton/year of green. The different treatment phases optimize the entire process and thus reduce the final waste output. Infact only the 7% of the received waste –  plastics, metals and other tailings – is not treated. The heart of the plant, where the wet anaerobic digestion process takes place, is composed of 5 tanks (1 pre-tank, 3 digesters and 1 final tank). The biogas produced from the anaerobic digestion process is then treated in the specific upgrading system that separates the CO2 from the methane, producing 5.100.000 Sm3 of biomethane every year to use for transportation. “We are extremely proud of this project that not only demonstrates our deep knowledge of the market and its dynamics, but most of all conferms our full trust in the use of OFMSW as resource for the production of electrical energy and methane.” Declared, Marco Bonvini, Sebigas General Manager. “Sebigas can guarantee to its clients, the same efficient project development, but most of all the deep know-how acquired from the cooperation with Maserati, from the initial phases of project financing to the operation assistance, maintenance, biological service and after sales”. Maserati Energia plant transforms the organic waste produced by about 600.000 citizens in one year, in over 180.000 methane car fill up, more than 54.000.000km, 90.000 car travels from Rome to Milan in one year. Moreover, the plant allows a local management of the collected waste, minimizing transports and thus reducing the environmental impact of the entire process, generating a high value economics and incentivising circular economy and renewables.  “Maserati plant is a very important step towards the future for us. The company is now enriched with a cutting edge technology, among the first in Italy,  that completes and enhances the transformation process of OFMSW, in which the company has trusted since the beginning.” Added Paolo Maserati, Maserati Srl CEO. “Moreover, this also valorises the technical know-how that Maserati has gained in the years.” The anaerobic digestion process, in addition to the biomethane, produces also compos(10.00t/year) and clean liquid effluent (36.000 m3/year). The first is entirely used as fertilizer in agriculture, while the liquid effluent is in part destined to river discharge, and in part used within the treatment phases. Unique in its kind is the 100% Italian partnership between Maserati srl – historic company specialized in compost, since 1980 – and Sebigas srl – leader in the supply of biogas and biomethane plants – that in 2017 established Maserati Energia srl, specialized in the complete management of OFMSW: from disposal to valorisation for the production of renewable energy
